location sound mixer/Boom Op

On Set of "Fortress"

Hey, I'm Corey Johnson, a 20 year old location sound mixer, and boom operator. Currently i reside in Baltimore city, Maryland in the hella hip neighborhood of Hampden. I'm an EMF (Electronic Media & Film) Major in the Radio/Audio track. I used to want to be on the radio for as long as i can remember as a DJ, and then, i went to intern at 89.7 WTMD in Towson, Maryland. While i was there i was introduced to the extensive behind the scenes world of production. It was there that I began to get involved with band recording techniques, and video editing. I often found myself in their control room.

However, when i left my internship at WTMD, I felt some kind of longing for production work that i wasn't getting anywhere else. I finally realized what i actually wanted to do for the rest of my life. Fortunately when i went back to Towson University i found Lambda Kappa Tau, a media production society, created through common interest in film, and established for the creative, and professional advancement of its members. LKT gave me the opportunity to learn skills that would make me an asset on sets. I already had somewhat of a background in audio, so I figured I would try my hand at location sound mixing, boom op'ing, and post sound. Since then i have been on countless sets including a feature film over the summer (campuspolicemovie.com), started numerous projects including an album, and found a steady group of people to work with consistently in Creamed Productions where we hold weekly script workshops. I've honed my skills, I'm confident in my abilities, and I'm ready to work.
